Marina Kurnikova

PhD in Management (2014), Associate Professor at the Chair for Regional Economy and Management of the Institute for National Economy (since 2015), Lecturer of Regional Economic Policy and EU best practices of Regional Development, the author of over 40 books and scientific papers, presenting her research into regional policy in Russia and abroad, including several papers related to the project, academic adviser of bachelor and master students, responsible for developing local socioeconomic strategies of the municipal raions and cities of the Samara region, moderator of strategic sessions aimed at public discussion of strategic documents of the Samara region, responsible for working out the curriculum of refresher courses for government officials.

Elena Koroleva

Doctor of Economics, Full Professor at the Chair for Regional Economy and Management of the Institute for National Economy, Head of Master Program “Public Administration and Municipal Management”, responsible for developing bachelor, master and postgraduate courses in Economics and Public Administration, head of the Laboratory for Complex Regional Studies (2007-2018), Principal Research Scientist of the Research and Development Institute for Regional Development, the author of over 100 scientific works including 4 monographs, responsible for developing local socioeconomic strategies of the municipal raions and cities of the Samara region and beyond, making prognosis on the socioeconomic development of Russia’s biggest regions (St Petersburg, the Leningrad Oblast, the Krasnoyarsk Krai, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, etc.

Galina Khmeleva

Doctor of Economics, Head of the Chair for World Economy of the Institute for National Economy, Head of Master Program “Regional Economy and Project Management of Territorial Development”, responsible for developing bachelor, master and postgraduate courses in Economics, Academic Adviser of postgraduate students, Lecturer of Regional Economy and Management, Innovative Policy, IT in Public Administration, responsible for conducting research into regional development through innovations, Academic Leader of the Project “Innovative Development of Russian Regions” supported by Russian Foundation of Basic Research, moderator of strategic sessions aimed at public discussion of strategic documents of the Samara region, responsible for working out the curriculum of refresher courses for government officials, the author of over 120 scientific papers including 10 academic books.

Lilia Agaeva

PhD in Economics, Associate Professor at the Chair for Regional Economy and Management of the Institute for National Economy, Lecturer of Regional Investment Attractivity, Project Management by State and municipal management, the author of 40 books and scientific papers, responsible for implementing 3 research grants supported by Russian Foundation of Basic Research. Teaching experience includes the work out and implementation of such courses for bachelors and master students as: Regional Economy and Development in the EU, Digital Economy and Project Management in EU Regions, Regional Innovative Activity

Dominique Foray

Holds the Chair of Economics & Management of Innovation at the EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) in the Collège du Management de la Technologie. Foray's research interests include the economics of science and technology, the economics of production and distribution of knowledge, the exploration of the tension between diversity and standardization in the past and in the present, and the analysis of path-dependent processes of economic change.

ABOUT

ERASMUS-JMO-2021-HEI-TCH-RSCH Jean Monnet Module «EU Regional Innovative Policy for Smart Growth»

The project introduces a module in the area of smart growth in regions and European regional policy. The strategic objective of this Project is to engage the target audience which consists of domestic and foreign Samara State University of Economics students, public administration, business community, research institutions and general public) into recent developments in EU innovative policy and smart specialization strategy (S3) in order to improve their understanding of contemporary issues in EU economic integration and stimulate contributions of the target public and the project team to EU related research and public debate.

The project has three strategic objectives:

1) educational work and active outreach spreading knowledge about European regional innovative policy and RIS3 to students (bachelors and postgraduates, young researchers) and policy-makers (public officials undergoing retraining courses at the Samara State University of Economics);

2) a research into the opportunities and challenges of Russian regions in adapting EU practices in implementing innovation-led regional growth. Such a research will generate knowledge and insights that can support policy-making in Russia based on the EU best practices;

3) an informational goal consisting of fostering dialogue between the academic world and the society, including local and state level policy-makers, Russian and international academia.

According to these objectives, the work program consists of three work packages: Teaching, Research and Dissemination.

3rd year students of “Regional Economy” started studying the European module

With the beginning of the winter semester, 3rd year students of the educational program «Regional Economy» began studying the module provided by the European Union grant under the program Jean Monnet. In this connection «Strategic Planning of Regional Development» has been added with a European studies component aimed at learning smart specialization principles in developing regional strategic and innovative programmes. The leading lecturer of the module and the participant of the project, professor of the Department of Regional Economics and Management Elena Koroleva conducted the first lecture session - «Introduction to the course «EU Regional Innovation Policy for Smart Growth».


Jean Monnet Module in Samara State Economic University

In December 2021, the European Executive Agency for Education and Culture (EACEA) reported on the results of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Call. Our proposal was successfully evaluated, and SSEU was invited to sign a grant agreement to start the project - Jean Monnet Module «EU Regional Innovative Policy for Smart Growth». Project Leader is Marina Kurnikova, Associate Professor at the Chair for Regional Economy and Management. Project Team: Galina Khmeleva, Head of the Chair for World Economy; Elena Koroleva, Professor at the Chair for Regional Economy and Management, Ekaterina Chikrunova and Lilia Agayeva - Associate Professors at the Chair for Regional Economy and Management. Guest lecturers and researchers from foreign universities are expected to participate in the project, too. Among them: Dominique Foray (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland) and Evangelios Grigoroudis (Technical University of Crete, Greece).

The project plan includes teaching: lectures and seminars related to the EU regional innovation policy regional «smart specialization» strategies. These classes are intended for 3rd- and 4th-year students of educational programs «Regional Economy», «State and Municipal Administration», «World Economy», including inviting foreign colleagues who will give their lectures. A summer post-graduate school is also planned. In addition, in the next three years, there will be scientific events for students, teachers, state authorities, and local governments aimed to discuss the issues of regional and municipal development strategic planning based on the principles of «smart specialization».

В декабре 2021 года Европейское исполнительное агентство по образованию и культуре (ЕАСЕА) подвело итоги конкурса проектов Jean Monnet программы Erasmus+. Заявка СГЭУ получила высокие оценки европейских экспертов, и нашему вузу предложили заключить грантовое соглашение на реализацию проекта Jean Monnet Module «EU Regional Innovative Policy for Smart Growth» (Региональная инновационная политика Европейского союза в целях обеспечения «умного» роста»).

Steps to be done in order to study at SSEU

Step 1:  Submission of documents

In order to study at Samara State University of Economics a foreign applicant needs to come to Russia with a tourist visa by the 20-s of June and submit to the of Organizing and Visa Support department the following documents: a letter of request for admission, filled-in application form, consent to processing of personal data, official copy of a document of previous education with the list of subjects and grades translated into Russian:

  • for undergraduate program applicants – certificate of complete secondary education
  • for graduate program applicants – diploma of previous degree (bachelor or equivalent)*

Foreign students applying for graduate (master) level programs are obliged to nostrificate previous (bachelor level) diploma.
The nostrification - professional recognition enables the holder of the foreign qualifications to pursue professional activities in the Russian Federation. See more on the official website of National information center.
The decision on recognition and equivalence of educational qualifications is made by the Federal Education and Science Supervision Service (Rosobrnadzor).

Step 2: Entrance examination (in a testing form for foreign applicants)

All applicants are obliged to take an entrance test, which usually takes place by 25th of June. The results of the test are announced within 3 days after the examination. It should be noted that in order to come to Samara and take a test at SSEU, foreign applicants from abroad are needed to apply a tourism visa.

Step 3: Tuition fee and invitation issue

In order to receive the official invitation (this is a key document to apply for Russian student visa) applicants pay tuition fees, which depend on the program of study. After the payment of tuition fees an applicant submit to the Organizing and visa support department following documents and information: a copy of the first page of passport (page with photo), country and city of birth, postal address , date of entering Russia for studying, place of visa application (country, city). The invitation is to be ready in about 20 days after submitting the documents and to be sent to the applicant's residence address via express-post.

Step 4: Application for visa

Upon receiving of the invitation, the applicant applies for a Russian visa.
The Organizing and Visa Support Department of the International Office is responsible for support of application of foreign citizens for studying at Samara State University of Economics.
