THE CONCEPT AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM OF INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITY

OF SAMARA STATE UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS (FOR THE PERIOD 2006-2010)

Recently there has been an internal and international stabilization in education, and, against a background of deepening and diversifying international links, special attention is being paid to the interdependency of educational systems. The necessary prerequisites have been created for establishing the common European educational area, simultaneously saving and utilizing the peculiarities and achievements of national educational systems, and using the unique scientific and educational potential gained by the leading world universities. Developed countries are getting stronger in the competition for leadership in a world educational system, and in modern society this is one of the main effective instruments influencing international events.

Samara State University of Economics has great potential to play a leading role in the world educational community and acquire the highest international standing.

The aims of SSEU international activity: developing international collaboration in order to increase its competitiveness in the educational services market, improving the SSEU international image as a highly professional educational and scientific centre, providing high quality educational and scientific activity to modern international standards.

The University carries out international collaboration on the basis of intergovernmental agreements, the agreements of Russian Federation Ministry of Education, Samara Regional Government, and direct agreements of SSEU with international partners.

SSEU international activities are carried out by:

1. The Rector

2. The International Centre

3. A consulting council on international relations that consists of the heads of departments, Institute directors, deans of faculties, and the representatives of SSEU social organizations

4. The Foreign Languages Learning Centre

5. Teaching and methodical management

6. The Council of Institutes and Faculties

The mission of The International Centre:

The International Centre’s mission is to increase and strengthen the SSEU image worldwide. The International Centre implements the main strategic goals of the University, targeted at achieving the international level of competition of the results of educational and research activity, increasing the quantity and improving the effectiveness of international agreements and attracting revenue from international activity for the University budget.

The main aims of THE CONCEPT AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM OF INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITY OF SAMARA STATE UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS FOR THE PERIOD 2006-2010 are:

1.Achieving international standards of quality in the sphere of research and educational programs. Harmonizing the SSEU curriculum with the curriculum of the leading world universities in certain educational programs;

2. Providing increased student and academic mobility according to the Bologna Process;

3. Implementing twinning and articulation programs and franchising agreements in order to increase SSEU competitiveness in the educational services market;

4. Improving the SSEU international image;

5. SSEU participation in international scientific and research activity;

6. Developing international activity as a way of realizing the quality concept of SSEU;

7. Developing the language competence of academic and administrative staff and students;

8. Strengthening the educational role of SSEU international activity;

9. Increasing the positive contribution of SSEU international activity to the University’s financial stability.
