Samara State University of Economics took the first place among the institutions of professional education at the prestigious competition "Ecolider".
Samara State University of Economics has been an "Ecoleader" in education for eight years already. According to Natalia Lazareva, professor of the Department of Economics of Enterprises of Agroindustrial Complex and Ecology of Samara State University of Economics, this is largely due to the fact that the University focuses on educational work aimed at raising the level of environmental awareness of students and teachers. "Development of environmental students’ values is carried out in educational processes. The key condition for students to enhance ecological concepts, laws and regularities and to understand environmental phenomena is to project basic didactic principles on the content of the course "Ecology", Prof. Lazareva she specifies. SSEU regularly holds various environmental actions to clean up public spaces and water bodies from garbage, to preserve historical and cultural heritage sites, and of course, participants in the volunteer movement "ECOvolonter SSEU" become active participants in these actions.
The calls of the contest are regular in 11 categories: "City"; "District"; "Urban and Rural Settlement", "Industrial Giant" (with more than 1000 employees), "Enterprise" (with up to 1000 employees), "Environmental Organization", "Public", "Education" (sub-category: "Pre-school education institution", "Medium-level educational institution", "Vocational Education Establishment"), "Media", "Enthusiast", "Pro".
The history of the regional competition "EcoLeader" started in 2000 in the Samara region, and winners’ awarding is held 5th June, World Environment Day, established in 1972 at the 27th session of the UN General Assembly.
"EcoLeader" is a tradition of our region, due to which many aspects of our life are changing for the better.
